These space food sticks are viable version of a high protein snacks designed for astronauts. However, these are not available at stores but can be acquired through online shopping or in places like the Kennedy Space Center, the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, and even Disney World.

The current owner of the company, Eric Lefcowitz said, “People have really strong memories with the foods they grew up with, so in a sense we’re bringing that back and hopefully another generation will pick up on it, I can’t afford the publicity they give. They’ve been nothing but nice, We’re a rapidly growing company, collapsing other plants into this location and its free publicity. Free publicity is just wonderful”

Well, this interlude of Unwrapped is listed to air on the Food Network sometime during spring of this year.

The sweetest thing that ever comes in my mind is ‘Honey’ and I am sure you would also not be differing with me in this context. Whenever the small kids are not feeling well, their parents advise them to take some healthy and nutritious diet. This diet full of nutrients may be a glass of milk with a tablespoon of honey in it or may be a slice of bread with the paste of honey and garlic spread on it. But as a matter of fact, it is a bi-product of a honey bee and it goes through a lot many processes to get refined and then served to us as ready-to-eat.

The word honey is in itself the most important thing of this world. I remember when I was in my high school, we were taught the meaning of the word Viscosity. The perfect paradigm of viscosity that we students were made to mug up was Honey. And I still remember the full mugged-up line ‘Honey is more viscous than water’. But I never knew why it was so and how it is being extracted and what processes it has to undergo in order to get purified so that people can consume it. But this Food Network’s Unwrapped did a great job! Not only it featured the famous company Wisconsin Natural Acres but it threw adequate light on the subjects of the detailed processes from extraction of honey to its purification and marketing. I never knew that the extraction of honey was a task that is performed without the use of any chemicals. The other dealers in this sweet business like Hershey’s, Lay’s and Pepperidge Farmwere also featured on the show.

Sheesh! The business of producing sweet honey and earning both blessings and green notes is a great fun! Isn’t it?

And now as we approach the tenth anniversary of his first book, published in the year 1999, let us try to unwrap the man who not only hosts our favorite food show Unwrapped but also is the author of Everything In Its Place: My Trials and Triumphs with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

When I first read the book, some six years back, I really was not much familiar with either Unwrapped or Marc himself. In fact, the book was referred to me by my friend, Andrea, who was a huge fan of the show, as well as Marc. But as I read the book and came to learn more about the life of Marc, I gradually started appreciating him. It was then that I made the decision to watch the show.

I still remember the first time I tuned into the Food Network, to watch Unwrapped TV show. My mother was a bit puzzled because I usually never watched shows that were even remotely associated with food or cooking (maybe because of my little interest in cooking). But then, I had been convinced by Andrea that this show was totally unlike any other cooking show and focused more on revealing the origins of various food items.

And thus I began my journey with Unwrapped with the episode titled Sweets. Since then it has rarely happened that I have missed any episode of the show. Even though I am neither a foodie nor a good cook, but I do like to accumulate new and interesting information. Unwrapped attracted me because of the information that I was able to garner through the show, which I often use to impress people.

And when I am not able to watch any episode of Unwrapped, due to some unavoidable circumstances, I make it a point to either download it from this website or watch it online here so that I can still get all the information I missed.

I don’t know, how the creators got the idea of doing a show that tells about the origins of different kinds of food, but I am really happy that they created Unwrapped. I mean, there are a number of shows which deal with the health aspects of food or something similar, but Unwrapped is perhaps the only show that takes us on a fascinating journey to reveal, how and where a particular type of food is made.

Frankly speaking, I am a great foodie myself and like to eat foods of different varieties and kinds. Although, I often thought about where a particular kind of food might have originated, I was never very keen to find out more. But since I started watching Unwrapped, I have discovered a new and amazing world where we not only come to know about a wide range of edible items but also about their behind the scene details etc.

For example, in the most recent episode of Unwrapped that was aired on May 18, 2009, the host, Marc Summers, took us on the journey to discover the manufacturing of various delicious treats which included Reser’s potato salad, Dulcinea Farms seedless watermelons, Vienna Beef deli meats, relish at Mount Olive & olive oil at McEvoy Ranch. The next episode, to be aired on May 25, 2009 will unveil the secrets of various barbeque delicacies and take us on a journey to uncover the manufacturing details of the same. So watch out for this upcoming episode of Unwrapped, which I am sure will appeal to the taste buds of all barbeque lovers!
